Match Review Panel Findings (Round 5)

AFL logoGUN Fremantle midfielder Nathan Fyfe has been charged with a level two kicking offence, (250 demerit points, 2 match sanction) after an incident involving Richmond midfielder Daniel Jackson in the second quarter of Friday night’s clash. Upon a guilty plea, Fyfe can reduce his sanction to one match and 187.50 demerit points.

Richmond’s Brad Helbig can accept a $900 sanction after engaging in misconduct in Friday night’s clash at Patersons Stadium. Helbig stood on the hand of Fremantle midfielder Danyle Pearce in the third quarter of the tight game. The sanction was originally $1200 but an early plea reduces the sanction by 25%.

Greater Western Sydney Giant Tom Scully has been charged with a second offence for making negligent contact with an umpire during Saturday’s game against the Gold Coast Suns at StarTrak Oval in Canberra. With an early guilty plea, Scully can accept a $1800 sanction.

Eagle Darren Glass can accept a two match suspension for engaging in a level two rough conduct against Port Adelaide utility Paul Stewart during Saturday night’s clash. Due to Glass’ poor record, a guilty plea will reduce his sanction from 3 matches, 307.81 demerit points to 2 matches, 230.86 demerit points.

Western Bulldogs discovery Brett Goodes can accept a two match suspension with an early plea after engaging in rough conduct with Geelong youngster Josh Caddy during the second quarter of Saturday night’s game. The charge was originally three matches but can be reduced with an early guilty plea.

Seasoned Bulldog midfielder Matthew Boyd can accept a reprimand after striking Geelong captain Joel Selwood during the third quarter of Saturday night’s clash at Etihad Stadium. The charge was originally a one match sanction but thanks to Boyd’s six year good record, Boyd can accept a reprimand and 70.31 carry over points.

Brisbane utility James Polkinghorne can accept a reprimand and 93.75 carry over points with an early guilty plea after tripping Melbourne utility Michael Evans during Sundays clash at the Gabba. The incident occurred during the first quarter. The incident was originally assessed as a one match sanction but will be reduced by a guilty plea.

Brisbane ruckman Billy Longer can accept a reprimand and 93.75 carry over points with an early guilty plea after engaging in rough conduct with Melbourne’s Sam Blease. The incident took place during the first quarter of Sunday’s clash at the Gabba. The MRP ruled a one match sanction which can be reduced with an early guilty plea.

Kangaroo Jamie Macmillan can accept a reprimand after 93.75 carry over points after engaging in misconduct in an incident with Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin. Macmillan made contact to Franklin’s head during the second quarter of the clash at the MCG on Sunday. The sanction will be reduced with an early plea.

A melee broke out during the second quarter of the clash between Hawthorn and North Melbourne at the MCG. Here is the aftermath:

Jamie Macmillan (North Melbourne) was charged with a third offence of engaging in a melee and can accept a $3000 sanction with an early guilty plea. Scott Thompson (North Melbourne) was charged with a second offence of engaging in a melee and can accept a $2100 sanction with an early guilty plea. A number of players can accept a sanction of $1200 with an early guilty plea after engaging in a melee with their first offence. These players include Aaron Mullet and Ryan Bastinac of North Melbourne and Isaac Smith, Lance Franklin. Jack Gunston and Jordan Lewis.
